Studio Policies
Registering for lessons confirms that you have read and understood the policies and will comply with the rules of the studio. Failure to follow the policies may result in parting ways with the studio.
Tuition Payment
No lesson will be provided without payment and payment must be provided a minimum of 24 hours prior to the start of the lesson. Drop-in and bundle packages are available through our payment software and autopay is highly recommended. Start-time payment of cash or check without prior communication will not be accepted. If autopay is selected, MakeMusic billing will automatically charge to refill your class packs when there is one credit remaining.
Late or Declined Payment: No lessons will be provided until payment is properly collected. In the event of uncommunicated payment lapse, it is not guaranteed that your spot will be reserved.
Termination of Cost
It is the student’s responsibility to terminate cost through our payment software upon parting ways with the studio.
Instructor Responsibility
Provide a positive and encouraging environment for all learners. Speak to each musician with respect and clarity. Enforce studio policy to the benefit of all students. Inspire a love for doing music through high-quality instruction in singing, movement, and instrumental technique. Stretch minds through use of diverse and culturally responsive repertoire, embracing student choice at all possible opportunities. Encourage community, self-acceptance, and social belonging.
Student & Family Responsibilities
Timeliness: Arrive on time to lessons no more than 5 minutes early with all necessary materials for the lesson. Depart on time.
Parking: This is a home studio in a residential neighborhood. There is parking directly in front of the house and several walkable parking lots less than a block away. Do not park anyone in. Please reach out if you need assistance due to mobility limitations.
Communication: If there is anything relevant to the life of the student that you think the instructor should be made aware of, please let us know so we can best adapt to your unique situation. Examples; major life changes, upcoming vacations or events, etc.
Bathroom: As this is a home music studio, all students are encouraged to use the restroom prior to arrival at the studio. You are welcome to use the restroom here, but there is only one and we would like to avoid any unnecessary waiting that takes you away from your valuable music time.
Sheet Music: Sheet music provided by the studio will be distributed as one paper copy per student and one digital reference. There are many music books available for use and students are welcome to bring their own resources.
Early Childhood: If you are an adult in a music lesson alongside a child, please put aside equipment that needs to be sanitized at the completion of the lesson. If your child has an accident, equipment will be provided to you to assist in cleaning it up.
Cancellation Policy
Instructor Reschedule
Upon the necessary reschedule on the part of the instructor, every effort will be made to reschedule the lesson. In the case of declined reschedule offers, students will forfeit the payment.
Student Reschedule
24 hours advance notice is required to guarantee an offered in-person makeup lesson. If the student declines the offered in-person times available, they will be given the option of an online reschedule.
Online makeup lessons are practice sessions recorded by the student and sent to the instructor. The videos will be watched and critiqued with feedback and goals for the next upcoming lesson. An online lesson video may not exceed the length of the originally scheduled lesson time.
Without 24 hours notice of cancellation, your payment will be forefit to the instructor without reschedule.
Drop-In Class
You may choose to register for one class as a drop-in lesson. These drop-in payments are nonrefundable in the event of cancellation without 24 hours' notice.
4-Class Packs
Class packs can be bought in bundles for a discounted rate. Please make sure you buy the correct bundle. If you register incorrectly, you will be emailed about correcting the error. If you do not respond within 24 hours, your appointment will be canceled and your CLASS CREDIT refunded.
Loaner Instrument Fee
This policy does not apply to children’s group lessons.
All students are welcome to utilize the instruments available in the studio. In the event that an instrument undergoes significant use by one student (6+ consecutive lessons), you may be asked to discuss an instrument maintenance fee added to your monthly flat rate purely to cover the cost of repairs, repads, sonic cleaning, or metal work. This cost does not profit the studio and is in place solely to guarantee the best condition of our instruments for all students.
Planned Studio Closures
If your lesson would typically fall on one of these planned studio closure dates, an alternative lesson date will be provided to you and communicated on the first of the month relevant to the reschedule.
*Our littlest learners are welcome to try the wind instruments with prior written correspondence to the lesson instructor. This is to ensure there is adequate time to sanitize the instrument following its use and prior to the following lesson.
